At Raventós i Blanc we are committed to the grape varieties native to our region, Xarel·lo, Macabeu, Parellada and Monastrell, which take up 80% of our estate. The experience of 18 generations cultivating the same estate, plus the various studies we have commissioned, like the one by Olivier Tregoat - who also works with Petrus, Cheval Blanc and Pibarnon - have led us to divide it into 5 areas: Plana, Llac, Clos del Serral and Barbera, devoted largely to our sparkling wines, and Serral, mostly used for still wines. Each area is divided into plots. We have 46 plots on the estate, each of them with a completely distinct identity from its neighbours. Each of them is marked by a soil type, a microclimate, a grape variety, a year of planting (from 1954 up to 2006), how the vines are trained (espalier or goblet) and, of course, what it is used for (De la Finca, Silencis, 11 and so on).
